Pulling Tractor!

These are the rules as published in the "Maine State Pullers"
official handbook for 1998. These refer to Stock Farm Tractor Class only.
The rules for the other classes are not listed here.

#1.....All tractors have to be stock. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places will be checked on a dyno
and have maximum RPM of 2600. Allow 15% variation.

#2.....Contest open to tractors with rubber tires. No 4 wheel drives allowed. No duel tires,
tire studs or tire chains permitted. All power must be transmitted through the wheels.

#3.....Drivers 16 and 17 years of age are permitted to pull with parental permission.
Drivers 18 years of age and older, permission is not required.

#4.....Each tractor may enter 2 classes & the free for alls.

#5.....Tire sizes: 0-13,999 lbs.- 18.4 tire size. 14,000-20,000 lbs.- 20.8 tire size.

#6.....Only 1 driver may drive same tractor in each class.

#7.....Driver must not leave seat of tractor while pulling.

#8.....No dealer will be eligible to enter a tractor in the contest.

#9.....Weight of tractor shall include driver.

#10.....Chain must be hooked to the following draw bar specifications. Minimum draw bar
length 18" from center of rear wheel to point of hook, measured horizontally, draw bar to be
stationary in all directions. Maximum height of 20" from top of hitching divice perpendicular
to the ground. Draw bar must be equipt with steel hitching device not more than 1" thickness,
with a 3" diameter opening. Cross sectional thickness must be 7/8" minimum. Pulling point
may not be more than 1-1/2" from back edge of hitching device.
No supports attached to drawbar.

#11.....Class will be cancelled if no entries in weight class.

#12.....No portion of tractor may interfere with sled or sled hitch during pull.

#13.....All weight must be safely secured to tractor & must mot extend rearward beyond
rear tires 6" nor be more than 24" in front of tractor to front of weight.

#14.....All tractors must be equipped with workable rear wheel brakes.

#15.....All tractors must have a strong and rigid seat. All tip seats must be securely
fastened while pulling; seats will be thoroughly inspected by officials.

#16.....The use of stabilizer bars is strongly recommended.

#17.....All tires will turn in correct rotation.

#18.....In case of dispute or misunderstandings, the decision of the judge or
superintendents will be considered fair, impartial and final.

#19.....There will be no ether cans on tractor or in drivers posession while on the
pulling track or he will be disqualified. Air tanks disconnected.

#20.....All tractors will have power take-off shaft in normal working condition and not slipping.

#21.....Any unsportsmanlike conduct will be an immediate disqualification of the tractor
drive and pit crew. Any purses won by tractor/driver will be reneged. The tractor/driver
may not be allowed to pull for the continuation of the competition, at the discretion of the
judges & officials. Suspension can be 1 year and 10 days.

#22.....Any driver or any of his crew incapaciated due to an intoxicating agent, his/her
pulling vehicle will not compete for the duration of the pull. Further, any puller or pit crew
member found around the track area withintoxicant will forfeit winnings and points from
event or his/her pulling vehicle will be berred from the next sanctioned event he/she appears to
compete. Track area is 25' on all sides surrounding the pulling track and the track itself.

#23.....Contestants must pull at position drawn within 3 minutes of time sled is at readiness;
any delsy will mean disqualification. If presiding judge is notified he may drop a contestant
having mechanical problems 3 positions. This may be done only once per contestant per class.

#24.....Judges decision will be final on any point of controversy; any disagreement will
result in disqualification.

#25.....Excessive oil or water leaks are subject to disqualifications.

#26.....Any tractor or skid that leaves course boundaries will be disqualified.
Flaps are not included as part of sled.

#27.....Any weight that hits pulling surface while hooked to sled will be a disqualification.

#28.....All drivers will wear helmets for safety reasons.

#29.....Horsepower to weight limitations:
0-4500 lbs...............45 HP
4501-6000 lbs............60 HP
6001-8000 lbs............80 HP
8001-10,000 lbs.........100 HP
10,000-12,000 lbs.......120 HP Maximum Horse Power Rating

pertaing to Stock Farm Tractor class!

Rules are basicly the same as the MSPA Rules
