"Yet Another Project"

"It Was A Little Rough!"

The Way I Got It!

When she came home, she looked like this.
It was missing the governor, distributor, starter, generator, and other misc parts.

"Looks Impressive!"

Side View!

It looks rather well, but to the trained mechanic, I knew it needed a lot of work.

"Removing Parts!"

Taking The Tractor Apart!

You have to disassemble the tractor to find out what it needs.
After all, why paint a scrap pile (Unless you want a lawn ornament!).

"Engine Parts!"

Engine Pistons and Parts!

Disassembly of the engine was necessary on this tractor.
It had piston slop over 1/8 inch, and the bearings had over .010" gap.

"Engine Block!"

Engine Block On Stand!

This tractor has a Continental 208 cubic inch engine. It is a "Wet Sleeve" type.
This motor is rated at 42 H.P. at 1500 RPM.

"Laid to Rest ?????"

Parts Laying Around!

These are the parts I had to remove and restore.

"Pretty Well Stripped Down!"

Bare Tractor Frame!

She's pretty well stripped down here except for the drivetrain.
Notice the wide front still attached, which I removed to lighten the front end.

"Disassembling The Transmission"

Disassembling The Tractor!

This is another one I have completed. I'm like the "Energizer Bunny!"
I keep going, and going, and going....

"Frame Modifications"

Working On The Frame

The frame has to be modified to accept the light duty narrow front end.

"Transmission Repairs?"

Working On The Transmission!

Many folks don't realize that a professional restoration job also requires
disassembly and inspection of the transmission and final drives!

"Front End Exchange!"

Changing Wide To Narrow Front End!

Changing the front ends greatly lighten up a tractor.
Usually by #400 pounds, and that is necessary if you plan to pull the tractor.
That way you can add weight where you need it to balance your tractor.

"HELP!"

Getting Some Help!

Sometimes it takes 3 or 4 hands to do something.
That's when a little help is always appreciated,... Even from Mom! (Grandma!)

"Upside-Down?"

Frame With Narrow Front Boss Installed!

Sometimes it is a whole lot better to turn things upside-down to perform
the work on them. Really saves on your back!

"Repairs"

Repairs To Parts!

Many times, the parts removed are just worn out. That is when they must be replaced
or repaired. Here is the steering column which needed rebushing.

"2 Speed Repairs!"

Repairing 2 Speed!

This picture is of the 2 speed taken apart. The shaft had to be welded
and reground to remove the play in the keyed shaft.

"Looking Good!"

Coming Together!

It starts to look like something as the major parts are put together.

"Moving Along!"

Tractor And All It's Parts!

It takes a while for things to come together. But rest assured, they will if you keep at it.

"Painting!"

Painted Parts!

Painting of the parts is a timely effort. I personally like to prime,
then paint the parts seprately with a brush. Then assemble the tractor,
and spray the entire thing at once. This gives it a glossy "NEW" look.

"Finished!"

Finished Tractor!

This was taken at the pulls this summer. Just had time to pull it once before winter set in.
Can't wait till next July when our pulling season starts.

I am always on the look for more junk tractors. If you know of any in
Northern New England, or New Brunswick, Canada, E-Mail me!

"I Even Pay A Finders Fee!"

cowboys.airranchtwo@ainop.com

Fee will be paid for information providing I buy that particular item!
But, don't tell my wife!
